Initiation Speaker Honorarium Application (Google Form)

Purpose

Alpha Kappa Delta will provide funds to bring a speaker to your chapter’s induction ceremony. This program is meant to support induction ceremony speakers and may be used as a gesture of good will and appreciation.

Alpha Kappa Delta will approve up to $500 per academic year upon approval of an application. Up to $500 may be granted to in-person speakers; up to $250 may be granted to virtual speakers.

Please note the amount requested may not be what you are approved for as the amount available is prorated based on the number of eligible requests received in our office.

Eligibility

  • Chapter Status: Chapters must be active and in good standing with the AKD Executive Office to receive funding.
  • Use of Funds: Initiation Speaker Honorariums may only be used to support a speaker presenting at an Alpha Kappa Delta induction ceremony.
    • Honorarium checks are issued directly to the speaker.
    • If the speaker does not have a Social Security Number (SSN) or a U.S. address, please contact the AKD Executive Office before submitting the application, as additional arrangements may be required.
  • Funding Limit: AKD will provide up to $500 per chapter per academic year for an Initiation Speaker Honorarium.
  • Reasonable Requests: Applications must include a reasonable and appropriate request. Funding levels are based on the reasonableness and plausibility of the proposed honorarium.
  • Eligible Speakers: AKD cannot provide funding for an employee or current student of the applying institution.
  • Speaker Frequency: AKD cannot fund the same speaker for five consecutive years.
  • Application Deadline: Requests must be submitted before the date of the induction ceremony.

Deadlines

Fall deadline: September 25, 2026
Winter deadline: January 31, 2027
Spring deadline: February 28, 2027

*Deadlines are the dates in which applications are reviewed. Spring Initiation Speaker Honorarium requests may be sent in at the fall or winter deadline. Requests are, however, reviewed in the order received and are on a first-come, first-served basis.
