Teaching & Learning Certificate
The Alpha Kappa Delta Teaching & Learning Certificate is one of a number of opportunities offered by AKD for professional development — for graduate students looking to get a start on their teaching skills and faculty at all levels who want to improve their classroom teaching.
Pursuing the certificates is also a great way to plan your conference attendance and network with highly motivated colleagues who are committed to your success and the continued vibrancy of the organization and discipline as a whole. Since most of the conferences in 2020-21 will likely be virtual, you can attend multiple meetings without constraints of funding or time for travel.
In 2020-21, the program requires attendance at five sessions of the candidate’s choosing at any of the AKD workshops offered throughout the year. At the time of this writing, there are sessions being offered at the annual meeting of the Association for Applied and Clinical Sociology, the Mid-South Sociological Association, and a free stand-alone session on November 12, December 10, and January 7. See the attachments for details on dates, times, and topics.
If you attended any of the sessions this summer (7/28, 8/4, 8/7), you can also use those toward this certificate.
Sessions are being planned for the spring and they will be announced when the regional sociology organizations make the decision to go virtual or not. AKD will also be offering stand-alone sessions at no cost.
